The city is for everybody !

Living with a physical disability must not be easy for anyone and the government needs to do something to help these people. Adapting the city for their needs is something that has to be mandatory for any country.

Since the first day I arrived in Austin I realized how the city is adapted for all its citizens. There are elevators in all the buildings, access  for the people in wheelchairs and the most amazing is that the buses are adapted for them also. This morning my friends and I were going to “The Domain '' and a lady in wheelchairs got into the bus. She couldn’t walk and she was also blind. I thought how wonderful it is that she is able to go wherever she wants and that is thanks to the fact that the city has all the facilities for disable people. Austin is considered to be one of the most accessible cities in the United States and according to the Austin American Statement  not only the government is doing its job to adapt the city for disable people, but many Austin businesses and landmarks are also  helping those with disabilities.  I think all the cities should do the same

  1. Transport system is one of the thing that this city can be proud. I also liked the way how they created some facilities in this system. Another example is bicycles. you can come to the bus stop with your bike and bus carries it to the next destination.

  2. I agree with this post, I have seen the same and I think is awesome. In my opinion, it is a way to make them feel independent moving around the city.
Those kind of buses arrived to city some months ago, I haven't had the opportunity to use them but I think is not possible to be used for people on wheelchairs for some reasons: the streets in mérida are not suitable, the are no enough buses for the population, the buses are only in the most dangerous road of the city.
I hope my government could think on people with different abilities.
