TTI Deya's summer in Austin

Adapting the city for their needs is something that has to be mandatory for any country.   Since the first day I arrived in Austin I realized how the city is adapted for all its citizens. There are elevators in all the buildings, access  for the people in wheelchairs and the most amazing is that the buses are adapted for them also. This morning my friends and I were going to “The Domain '' and a lady in wheelchairs got into the bus. She couldn’t walk and she was also blind. I thought how wonderful it is that she is able to go wherever she wants and that is thanks to the fact that the city has all the facilities for disable people. Lewis, 1940   According to the National Institute of Mental Health in 2014 there were around 43.6 million adults in the U.S with a mental illness. I have used public transport everyday during these two weeks in Austin and it caught my attention that many people in the buses are speaking alone or they look as if they have a mental illness. I questioned myself if it was a normal situation here and what the government is doing to deal with this situation.   During this summer in Austin we are taking a writing class that will help us to develop our skills as writers. I have to confess that writing has always been very difficult for me, even in Spanish!  This photo was taken after the second writing class and I think everybody was very excited as we had been working on combining sentences. We were a bit confused at first, but at the end we could do the exercise. I really enjoyed the class and I hope to learn a lot and change my mind about writing.
